Is Social Media Really Free?

I have heard so many people say, “Social media is free!” It is really?

If you were to compare social media to other marketing tactics, like TV, Radio or Print you might say yea, it’s free, there’s no cash outlay. My question still stands though. Is it really free? Not in my opinion!

I have always been taught that time is money. Your time is worth something.  Let’s analyze. If your time is worth something, and it takes time to effectively utilize social media to work for you and your business…then social media marketing is truly not free.

Before you jump in and start using social media to market your business wouldn’t it make sense to learn all you can from a professional in order for you to utilize your time effectively?  To make something happen that will benefit your company will take an investment of time.

Social media is only free if you think that your time is worth nothing.

The next time a web or marketing company tells you that getting into the social media is free, think about it. Those companies are thinking about themselves and do not understand your value.

What Do You Tell People About Yourself?

I heard an interesting comment yesterday. “FaceBook is so corrupt. There are so many people trying to steal account information from others. It looks like FaceBook is just not safe”.

Here is my response to these comments…only foolish people post their most sacred information about themselves and tell everyone where they are going and/or how long they will be gone.  Just like when you’re in a crowded mall, and you’re talking to a friend at the food court, giving them your private information – you never know who is listening. You open yourself up – to let someone dishonest do what they do best.
