Searching for things in Google, Yahoo, Bing or any other search engine, the results that you get back are called “Search Engine Results Page” or “SERP”.

The Successful Roadmap

This element is one of the easiest items to develop. There are numerous free tools that will automatically develop this for the website designer and only takes a few minutes to complete. But never the less it is left out when the website is published.  Have you figured out what I am talking about yet?
 
Let me continue…this feature is important because it is the road map of your website. It tells the search engines how you site is laid out and what pages to index in their database.  You guessed it! This key element is called a “Site Map”.
 
A site map is just a page that is submitted to the search engines. By having a site map (or road map of your website) the search engines will in time crawl your website and index the pages within your website. That’s not the end of it though. After your site map has been submitted, it needs to be updated after every change you make to your website; telling the search engines that something has changed. Read the rest of this entry »

Why Duplicate Content Could Hurt You

Where did you or your webmaster come up with the content for your website?

This is a very important factor to look at when developing a website that will be listed with Google, Bing and Yahoo.  When the search engines send out their spiders and find that you’re content is the exact same as another website that was there before yours — you may have a bit of a problem.  The same is true if you own several websites and just copy and paste the content into each of the websites.

Have You Found Your “Purple Cow”?

I was sitting here, wondering if you have asked yourself, just what does our new look have to do with website development, SEO or SMO. Let me explain to you how we came up with our new look for the website. It all started a while back when we viewed Seth Godin’s video about “finding your purple cow”. Deb and I put our thinking caps on and threw out all sorts of ideas. For some reason food kept coming into the picture. Maybe that’s because I love to cook and Deb loves to eat.
